Time Flies | An Early lesson

One of the few pieces of wisdom that I heard from a teacher that has stuck with me, was about the passage of time. We were aged 14 and about to start a 2 year course leading to O'levels as they were at the time.(probably equivalent to high school diploma). He told us that two years seemed like a long time, but it would go by in a flash and we should get down to work immediately. He was right on both counts. At that age, two years did seem like a very long time. And it was no time at all before the exams were looming and I was wishing that I had put in more study earlier on. As I get older, time seems to pass ever more quickly, but I still remember those words. Now I make a point of seizing any opportunity I get. If there is ever a chance to try something new, I grab it with both hands. It's not that I worry about the future and the passage of time. Life doesn't happen in years or months or days. It happens in moments. Our job is just to make the most of every moment.

Although I always remembered this advice, it took me a long time to begin to act on it. Don't make the same mistake.
